On Shrove Tuesday, we will gather as a parish community to celebrate our care, welcome and gratitude for one another.
Particularly, we would like to welcome new members of the parish to enjoy a glass of wine and some nibbles. This will be an occasion to meet, greet, celebrate and get to know one another.
Father Tom says: “All of us, especially the team who welcome people for Mass on Sunday at the church door, have a golden opportunity to show the face of welcome to those who have joined us. In this way, we manifest the care that characterises the Christian community.
“Care is evident in the high level of service given by the very many people who are involved in a great variety of ministries in our parish. Some ministries are evident, like Ministers of the Word, Special Ministers of the Eucharist and Ministers of Music. But most are carried out in the background and unseen, such as the cleaning of the church, caring for the finances, altar linens, visiting the housebound and caring for the homeless.”
The event, on Tuesday 9 February, invites all parish members and anyone involved in any kind of Ministry to join together and affirm and encourage one another.
“Together,” says Father Tom, “we can give thanks to God for calling us to build up the Body of Christ and show the face of God’s mercy to the world.”
To help us with catering arrangements, please inform the parish office if you are free to attend.
