Our 5-day Pilgrimage to Rome & Assisi was an amazing experience which was
enhanced by a very full itinerary and great leadership.
We were determined to gain indulgences by entering the Holy Doors of
Basilicas. This was certainly achieved as was our artistic hunger and our sense
of awe and wonder at the splendour of the architecture. The Eternal City lived
up to its reputation.
The audience with Pope Leo XIV was quite an experience as was our
introduction to the historic story of this wonderful city.
Assisi by contrast was quite calm and magnificent. We visited the Basilicas of St
Francis and St Clare and the tomb of our new Saint Carlo Acutis. All three
venues were thought provoking. The story of Saint Carlo was poignant and
humbling.
Our Pilgrimage of Hope was prayerful and contemplative. It was busy! It was a
joyful experience enhanced by my fellow Pilgrims, our Spiritual Leader Fr Saju,
our Organiser Susan Lowery, our Coach Driver and Guides.
It was a profound and memorable time. It ranks highly as the opportunity of a
lifetime.
